Description Your role at GEI. This entry-level, casual on call, archaeology position will assist on various projects throughout the midwestern US and occasionally other parts of the US.
Essential Responsibilities & Duties - With assistance from Cultural Resources Group Leader, pursue new clients and projects.
- Prepare technical scopes of work for proposals and projects, project budgets, requests for proposals for contractors, and technical reports.
- Assist with project management tasks and manage small projects.
- Plan and lead the implementation of archaeological surveys, site recordations, and site excavations (evaluations and data recovery).
- Supervise field crews.
- Prepare cultural resources reports in support of Section 106 compliance and state regulations.
- Coordinate with federal, state, and/or local agencies to support projects.
- Assist agencies and other clients with Native American coordination.
- Prepare National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) cultural resources sections.
- Interact with clients and attend client and project meetings.
- Participate actively in trade organizations and conferences, deliver presentations, and write technical papers.
- This position has a field component; travel and some overnight travel is required.
Minimum Qualifications - Master's or Doctorate degree in Archaeology or closely related field.
- Registered Professional Archaeologist.
- 8 years of archaeological consulting or agency experience in midwestern US.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and experience independently preparing complex technical documents for various cultural resources projects.
- Ability to manage and organize several projects at the same time.
- Willingness and ability to travel on short-term assignments as needed.
- Willingness and ability to perform field tasks and oversight.
- Candidates must also be knowledgeable of federal cultural resources regulations and midwestern US state regulations.
- Valid U.S. driver's license.
