Founder & CEO: stealth open source genAI/devtools startup

Full-time / Greater Seattle Area / Hybrid

Madrona Venture Labs is incubating a new GenAI-oriented startup. Unlike prompt playgrounds or frameworks, this SDK bolts on to existing code to help developers gather data, replay scenarios, and conduct live A|B testing on production systems. This company is being built around an open source toolkit to help businesses bring LLM-based applications to market.

The Founder-in-Residence/CEO opportunity with our team at Madrona Venture Labs (MVL) is a 3-12 month opportunity designed to match successful entrepreneurs with business ideas that we believe have the potential to be industry-changing, $1B+ opportunities. We now have an opening for a visionary leader to help us launch this new company.

The attributes and skills that are important to us include:

1. A tech-savvy visionary who can work comfortably with both product and engineering customers to solve challenges with their LLM-centric applications.
2. An effective communicator skilled at distilling complex concepts into easily digestible insights, especially for non-technical audiences, such as customers, coworkers, and investors.
3. Experience with bringing open-source products to market.
4. Understanding of GenAI technologies, including models, frameworks, prompt systems, and agents.
5. Passionate about the developer experience.
6. Experience delivering data and machine learning products, as well as developer tools, especially VSCode plugins.
7. Has led and recruited at least small-to-medium-sized teams (10+ members), including product, engineering, and go-to-market functions.
8. Excited about recruiting, growing, and mentoring a team. Experience building teams from scratch is preferred but not required.
9. Entrepreneurial acumen. Comfortable in ambiguous situations and excited about early-stage development and a diverse range of responsibilities.
10. Located in or willing to move to the Seattle area.

Outstanding candidates will also have:

1. Technical vision and presentation skills that will earn the excitement of investors and prospective team members.
2. Prior successful experience founding or leading a startup.
3. Experience building company pitch decks and fundraising from venture capital providers.
4. Active engagement with the open source communities.
