Job Description A part-time project engineer is being sought in the Munson Lab at the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute at Virginia Tech to work across a number of projects within the group. The individual will contribute to sponsor funded projects across the lab by developing and designing tissue phantoms for MRI, 3D printed devices and microdevices for microscopy, cell culture, and other applications, and development of other novel tools to advance research forward. This individual will also be expected to work to troubleshoot general issues on equipment throughout the lab, working and communicating closely with company personnel, and testing systems. This individual should be team focused and be able to work with individuals across the lab to identify problems and needs for development of new systems or solutions. An ideal candidate would be very proactive and communicative, with a bent towards creative problem-solving.
Required Qualifications •Experience with CAD, Inventor, or similar design software.
•Exposure to a range of laboratory instrumentation
•Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
•Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team and lead research projects.
•Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Preferred Qualifications •B.S. (or B.S. in progress) in Biomedical Engineering or other engineering field, or comparable experience in design, development.
