BRIEF POSITION SUMMARY: This role will assist in guiding workflow of basic day-to-day functions in the warehouse
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: - Facilitates, as directed by the supervisor, the workflow processes by helping the associates eliminate barriers to productivity and quality.
- Performs, in supervisor's absence, all day to day responsibilities of the department.
- Assists department supervisor with productivity enhancements, performance monitoring and SOP updates.
- Operates basic and advanced warehouse vehicles (i.e. turret truck and/or order picker).
- Evaluates spend-a-day candidates on departmental procedures and monitors their progress.
- Trains all associates on departmental procedures and monitors their progress.
- Monitors and reports that safety rules are communicated and followed.
- Performs to specified productivity and quality expectations.
- Participates in work clean program.
- Performs all duties within safety guidelines.
- Fosters the MSC Culture in the department and throughout the company to ensure unity of purpose and fulfillment of MSC's mission.
- Coaches Associates to higher levels of performance- productivity & quality
- In order to meet customer service requirements, associates can be temporarily re-assigned to other warehouse functions.
- Participates in special projects and performs additional duties as required.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE: - High school diploma or the equivalent required.
- One year of warehousing or related experience is required.
SKILLS: - Experience in operating basic warehouse vehicles such as pallet jacks and forklifts if required in specific department.
- Experience operating advanced warehouse vehicles such as turret trucks and order pickers where required.
- Basic computer skills required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: - The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Sitting, standing, walking, lifting materials (maximum 75 pounds - individual or team lift), carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing stairs, climbing using legs and arms, balancing, stooping, kneeling, repeated bends, reaching high and low, and repetitive twisting or pressure, involving wrist and hands. Hearing, seeing (including depth perception and peripheral vision), ability of mental coordination.Must be able to wear personal protective equipment as required for position.Must be able to operate at heights up to 50 feet.Mentally alert for entire shift.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: - May be required to work overtime to meet customer's needs.
- Must obtain internal certification to operate warehouse vehicles within specified time requirement.
